Nova 96.9’s Wippa sets World Record for longest Hot Wheels track
Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli has been trying to break a very niche world record for the past six months, and now he’s finally the holder of the record for longest Hot Wheels track.
After failed attempts at Taronga Zoo and Centennial Park, the Nova 96.9 announcer finally pulled it off at Oatley Park.
With the help of the Nova team, Wippa set a new record of a 751.130m Hot Wheels track.
It all started as a lockdown idea when Wippa was playing Hot Wheels with his boys in their driveway, and he soon discovered the longest track was a mere 663.298m set in Forster, Pennsylvania.
“What a dream it’s been, what a journey it’s been,” he said. “It came to the point where 2020, as we spoke about before the show, has been a stinker. No one is having a good time!
“As I lay there thinking about Hot Wheels, I was also thinking about that great quote from JFK where he says ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!’
Fitzy interjected; “No one asked you to do this though..”
“Well done everybody, we have worked our bum off for this award!” added Wippa.
“For too long, Pennsylvania, a small town called Forster has celebrated and felt safe in their world record until we turned up today! Australia, it’s a brand new world record!”
