Nine unhappy with Kyle
The Nine Network are on a winner with The Voice, and deservedly so, it is a spectacularly well executed concept (see 'the lesson from the voice' here).
However, they are protective of the franchise, and sensitive about criticism of it from, or faciliated by, people who they perceive as having an agenda.
Perhaps like Kyle Sandilands, who is a judge on 'Australia's Got Talent', which has seen soft ratings this year so far in comparison to 2011, and to 'The Voice'.
There has been speculation over recent days about whether The Voice is completely 'blind' or is rigged to some extent.
Notwithstanding what appears to be a lack of any evidence proving the show is rigged, that hasn't prevented the speculation occurring. Everybody loves a conspiracy theory.
There have been numerous callers put to air on the 2Day FM breakfast show reportedly bagging The Voice and raising doubts over how pre-planned the show and contestants have been.
Subsequently, there were urgent and unhappy phone calls between Nine and Southern Cross Austereo, resulting in Nine's Director of Development, and boss of The Voice, Adrian Swift being interviewed on the Kyle & Jackie O show.
Crisis averted. Nine are happy. SCA are happy. Advertising revenue is protected. All is now good with the world.
