Nine chief executive Hugh Marks tops AdNews’ Power 50 list

Industry publication AdNews has released its Power 50 list, recognising the significance of the recent Nine/Fairfax merger deal by placing Nine CEO Hugh Marks in top spot.

Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media announced their merger agreement in July, worth an estimated $4 billion.

The deal sees Macquarie Media’s entire radio network join a portfolio comprising Nine’s television network as well as a suite of large-scale brands in digital and publishing.

NOVA Entertainment executive chairman & owner Lachlan Murdoch, who is also the executive chairperson at News Corp, comes in at #2 on the list.

Siobhan McKenna, managing partner of Murdoch’s Illyria which owns NOVA Entertainment’s Nova and smooth networks, placed at #8, while SCA chief Grant Blackley came in at #18.

ABC CEO Michelle Guthrie placed at #22, while NOVA CEO Cathy O’Connor was ranked #27 and HT&E’s Ciaran Davis placed at #31.
