New Mix 102.3 Breakfast show to be unveiled this week

Adelaide’s new Breakfast show on Mix 102.3 will be revealed before the end of the week.

The show had been helmed by Jodie Oddy and Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom with Oddy having been with the program for over a decade, first as part of a team including Jason ‘Snowy’ Carter and John Ridell.

Mark Aiston replaced Ridell, but then departed at the end of 2013. Channel 7 presenter and former state Aussie rules football player Soda joined the program in 2014, forming Jodie, Soda & Snowy.

Snowy left at the end of 2014.

Oddy has been the one constant, with the exception of her maternity leave, on the program since 2007. The program had 81 survey wins, but briefly lost its FM Breakfast crown to the new Ben & Liam offering on Nova earlier this year. It regained the lead in Survey 7, and in the most recent survey, released today, it was tied with Triple M’s Roo & Ditts for the #1 FM spot on 10.6%.

Despite the long-term performance, Oddy abruptly departed last month, and parent company Australian Radio Network (ARN) has signalled the show in 2021 will go in a new direction, but still feature Soda.

Thus far, despite mounting speculation about the replacement, ARN has been coy on its plans until now.

Chief content officer Duncan Campbell has now told Radio Today it will do the announcement this week.

Campbell said he’s “very confident” about the new lineup.

“I have no concerns about the station,” he said following today’s ratings release. “In fact, I’m very upbeat about what’s going to be on offer next year and our ratings next year as well. There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes at the moment, and an announcement later on this week.”

Duncan…thankyou for getting rid of the Jodie.
Kind regards…Nova, Triple M and SAFM.

Well Played... really???

Really??? Jodie is most certainly not a blonde bimbo! Can back herself with what she says. Lets take a look at SAFM..hard to listen to and more ‘self promotion FM’… Don’t you think?? As for Triple M, you clearly haven’t listen to the local breakfast + afternoon duo? More swearing and fumbling and 2 Crows Shows.. and who are Ben & Liam???

I hope Jodie smashes it with her next gig..

Hopefully mix has done the right thing and brought Jodie back.

Well played…really?

I’m pretty sure Well Played was supporting Jodie and ARN getting rid of her just gifted the competition the #1 spot. Or am I reading this wrong?

Been lot of articles in the paper about this story lately. Like you hope Jodie gets another gig. Maybe SAFM or Nova ? Both shows seem to be struggling

Soda has NEVER played in the AFL!

You’re right, David. He didn’t play in the national AFL competition, so it was clunky wording on my part.

Reading Duncan’s comments

-he’s not confident about the new show
-he’s regretting firing Jodie who is loved by all of Adelaide
-he is worried about next year

How does Jodie resign and not get a farewell show? Seriously

Sorry but I’ve been in radio for some time and can read between the lines. This is not a resignation.

Dumbest thing in Australian radio, letting Jodie go will come back and bite big time. I listened to it for Jodie, not Soda, he might have been ok if he didn’t spend so much time trying to make Jodie seem dumb when she’s the one with the brains. He’s just another Kane Cornes, couldn’t cut it in the AFL, couldn’t make it as a Fireman so tried media instead. Ive already changed to SAFM, Bec and Cosi are ok but Bec and Jodie would be a definite winner.

Have to find another radio station to listen to if they don’t bring Jodie back. I am missing Jodie already.

Adelaide radio is meh and beige at the moment. Eventually Nova will force a female addition in the show and this will throw it all off. It’s what they do.
SCA seem to think that if you are on the tele you will be good at radio. How’s that working out for them.
