Mitch Churi departs ARN
Mitch Churi has emotionally announced on air this afternoon that he is leaving ARN and the KIIS Network programs THE PICK UP and The Night Show that he is part of. He has said that the decision was not his but a cost one made by the network.
An ARN spokesperson said:
“As part of our review of network shows for 2025, Mitch Churi will be departing ARN, with his final day on KIIS being December 13. Mitch has been a cherished member of the ARN family, bringing his unique energy, humour, and talent to our network.
We are incredibly grateful for Mitch’s dedication and the joy he’s shared with listeners and team members alike. While this marks the end of one chapter, we know Mitch’s incredible talent and passion will lead to exciting opportunities ahead.
We wish him nothing but success and happiness in his next adventure.”
Mitch has been with ARN a decade, starting out making coffees for Kyle and Jackie O. His PICK UP co-hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, who also present the ACRA winning Life Uncut podcast look like they are staying with ARN and on radio.
Have to feel for him. Just shows that ARN shouldn’t have gave Kyle and Jackie o $20 mil.
Hopefully SCA will be smart and make him be one of the new faces on 2day fm breakfast.
Possibly a victim of the need to pay for Kyle & Jackie O’s ridiculously huge breakfast contract?
The fact it was announced in Early October that the “Is It Just Me?” podcast (which Churi co-presents) is wrapping up, makes me wonder if this decision had been a while in the making though.
Either way, I don’t think it’ll be overly long before Mitch’s services are snapped up by another network. Heaven knows 2DayFM could use the services of the highest profile presenter currently on KIIS after their brekky & drive duos!
Hopefully Mitch’s “exciting opportunities” will be of the magnitude of Jase & Lauren. All the best Mitch
I guess the Kyle and Jackie contract is having larger impacts a again.
The irony; he began at ARN making coffees for K&J, and 10 years later he’s been culled from ARN because they need to save money to pay for K&J.. hopefully either Nova or SCA jump on Mitch quickly!
I wasn’t a fan the first time I heard him with Brit and Laura , but he really evolved with the show and pulled back on the whole camp thing. I read somewhere ARN are looking to pay KJ by cutting costs not sure if that’s correct. I don’t think anyone there, no matter how good they rate, is safe right now.
Such a shame. Mitch is a fantastic talent & host. What he’s done for the Pick-up to make it listenable for radio, is amazing. A loss for ARN.
Surely nova needs to update their nights show after so long. Surely Smallzy wants to do something different?
Could be a bit of a battle on the hands of SCA and NOVA to try and snaffle him up.Mitch is a smooth operator…
