MG calls time on eight years with Triple M Grill Team

Former Assistant Editor

Mark ‘MG’ Geyer called time on his eight year stint with the Triple M Grill Team last Friday.

Having been a part of the team since its inception eight years ago, MG revealed that he won’t be departing Triple M entirely, and is set to begin hosting his very own show in 2018.

The former NRL player gave an emotional farewell live on air, thanking everyone he’s worked with at the station over the past eight years.

“2009 we started this little shindig called the Grill Team,” MG began “Me, Angus [Worland] and Stuey [Stuart] MacGill; the sweet prince, were here.

“We’ve had a few producers along the way that we’ve come to love, and not-so-love.

“I’d like to thank all the behind-the-scenes staff. It’s an organisation that you don’t want to leave,” he said, getting choked up.

“And that’s why i’m here for a few more years in another capacity.

In typical MG fashion he finished his speech with a joke. “As we bid you goodbye for 2017 let’s hope that everyone has a great Christmas and a happy new year, and have lots of sex.”

Of course, the Grill Team weren’t about to let MG leave peacefully, putting together a mashup of Macklemore & Kesha‘s track ‘Good Old Days’ and some farewell quotes from Geyer.

His new show NRL/Sport show is set to take place at 6pm weeknights. Triple M has told Radio Today that that it hasn’t yet confirmed in which cities the show will air, but revealed that it won’t air nationally.
