Melbourne community radio station to broadcast AFLW season 7 games

Reporter

AFLW returns tonight, and Melbourne community radio station 94.1FM 3WBC will be at the forefront during season 7, broadcasting games in Australia’s premier women’s football competition.

All matches will feature the Hawthorn women’s team as it makes its debut in an expanded 18 team competition.

3WBC has broadcast Victorian Football League (VFL) men’s and women’s games since 2008.

3WBC President Phil Edwards says “AFLW is bringing footy back to the suburbs, and what better way to listen to the games than through people who live and love the game?”

“The team is grateful for the support of the AFL in supporting 3WBC’s request to provide coverage of the AFLW competition to local audiences – reflecting the grassroots nature of the game.”

“As a community radio station, we give opportunities for people to develop and expand their broadcasting skills and our footy coverage is no different. Every voice you will hear on 3WBC comes from a different background, but what they do have in common is a love for the game.”

“With the Box Hill City Oval being located only a short distance from 3WBC studios, covering the Hawks games has always been a natural fit for our community radio station. We love bringing stories and events – not only to our local audience but to a wider audience around Melbourne and Australia.”

3WBC Football broadcasts will be available to listeners on 94.1FM in Melbourne or via the AFLW website and mobile app.
