Mel Greig to appear at UK Radio’s biggest industry event

Staff Writer

It’s one of the UK’s biggest radio events, attracting over 500 top executives, producers and presenters from the BBC, commercial and indie sectors from across the UK. And Mel Greig is to be one of the headline speakers at The Radio Academy UK Radio Festival.

After Mel made an emotional appearance at the inquest into the 2012 death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha just a few short weeks ago, she is now a headline talent to talk about a topic very close to her heart; the dangers of On-Air pranks.

Chris Burns, who is Head of Group Operations at BBC Radio and the chair of Radio Festival 2014 has told news.com.au:

“The circumstances surrounding this tragedy are terribly sad but they hold important lessons for all of us working in the media,”

“As an industry we need to act responsibly and learn from each other, so I am pleased that Mel has chosen to speak at the Radio Festival, so we can learn from her experience.”

The UK Radio Festival is a three-day programme of keynote speeches, networking opportunities, workshops, masterclasses and demonstrations designed to celebrate UK radio and discuss its future. It starts October 13.
