Matt Granland ‘let go’ as 1116 SEN cuts continue

Crocmedia’s Craig Hutchison is putting a broom through Melbourne sports broadcaster 1116 SEN

After news yesterday broke that general manager Cathy Thomas had been made redundant, it’s been revealed footy commentator Matt Granland has also been ‘let go’.

Granland was told yesterday afternoon that he’d no longer be calling games on Friday night, while he’s also lost weekend commentating spots and fill in roles during the summer.

“I loved all the people I worked with and I’ll miss SEN. It’s been a big part of my life and I wish them success,” Granland told News Corp.

Granland is the husband of former ARN Melbourne news director Emily Hoskins.

It’s just the latest in a series of sweeping changes undertaken by Hutchison following the merger of Crocmedia and Pacific Star Network with a cavalcade of ‘names’ leaving the station including evenings host Mark Fine and regular summer and fill-in host Kevin Hillier.

Wow… big loss for SEN, no doubt someone else’s gain shortly. Matt Granland is a great broadcaster and a good bloke 🙂
