Marto’s Matildas idea catches on

Reporter

Brisbane is in the grip of Matildas fever and Triple M Breakfast host Greg ‘Marto’ Martin is no different.

The former Wallabies fullback is right behind our Aussie team and got the surprise of his life when he purchased the Courier Mail earlier this week and saw its Sam Kerr poster.

“If you don’t get yourself the Courier Mail today you’re an idiot … we’re building a giant Sam Kerr poster,” Martin said.

Martin, spurred on by his co-hosts Margaux and Dan then came up with a genius idea.

“The Kerr-ier Mail … Alright I’m going to go with it, the Kerr-ier Mail.”

The radio break was picked up by the editor of The Courier Mail with Weekend Editor Anna Caldwell joining the Triple M Breakfast Show today to make a special announcement:

“I heard it, I loved it, it’s amazing. So tomorrow’s paper, for the first time ever (over 177 years), will be the Saturday Kerr-ier Mail.

“It looks pretty cool, we’ve been working on it. I think you’ll like it.”

“I reckon you’ve got a second career in newspapers, Marto.”

Margaux says “Marto, Dan, myself and the whole Triple M Brisbane team are super proud and pumped for the Matildas and the excitement that the FIFA Women’s World Cup has brought to Brisbane has been electric.”
