Kyle & Jackie O Show goes producer free

The duo at the helm of Sydney’s number one FM Breakfast show, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson this morning banned their producers from being involved in the program to prove they really could do it all.

Yesterday on air, the hosts of The Kyle & Jackie O Show said its producers were going on “strike”, but Sandilands said they didn’t need them anyway.

“We could do their job,” Henderson agreed.

“We’ll do the entire show on Friday producer free… Probably be one of the best shows ever,” Sandilands said.

So this morning, they went ahead and did everything from writing the stories to answering the calls.

“We are an hour down and we have done everything from writing our own news stories to writing the pop quiz questions to answering the calls, and, really, Brooklyn, it’s not much different to a normal show,” Henderson said.

Sandilands did admit that behind the scenes it was more hectic than a normal show.

“I like to run the halls picking on the staff and smoking cigarettes,” he joked, noting the duo weren’t getting their off-air breaks.

There were a few times throughout the broadcast when the team couldn’t help but get involved, including when Sandilands couldn’t recall the exact Dan Murphy’s stores stocking his Nueva Sangria – but the duo shut them down any time they did too much work.

“They said it couldn’t be done…. They love themselves,” Sandilands said of his dedicated team.
