Kyle & Jackie O celebrate Mardi Gras on KIIS 106.5 float

Former Assistant Editor

Kyle and Jackie O were front and centre of KIIS 106.5‘s ‘KIIStory of Mardi Gras’ float on Saturday night at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.

KIIS was the official media partner of the event this year, and it was the first year that the station has taken part in the parade itself.

The KIIStory float was created to celebrate the political and controversial aspects of the parade’s past, while celebrating the triumph of love and self-expression.

Kyle and Jackie O were joined by newsreader Brooklyn Ross and Kyle’s girlfriend Imogen Anthony, along with ARN and KIIS staff on the float.

At one point Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten spontaneously joined Kyle and Jackie on the KIIS float.

“Kyle and Jackie O have been vocal and passionate supporters of the LGBTQI community and marriage equality, so I couldn’t think of anyone better to lead the KIIS 1065 ‘KIIStory of Mardi Gras’ float supported by iHeartRadio,” said ARN chief marketing officer Anthony Xydis.

“ARN is proud that the KIIS float was a celebration of diversity, acceptance and a celebration of the power of sound to bring people together. The float’s inspiration was the 40 year history of Mardi Gras and celebrates audiences’ love of radio and all its personalities.”

Not jumping on the bandwagon here, but whatever you say about them Kyle and Jackie have always supported the gay community and same sex marriage back before it was fashionable.
