“Just read the news”?

Krista Thomas, who the Telegraph headlined yesterday as being dumped from the KIIS 106.5 Breakfast “being too opinionated for a woman”, has made an appearance on Channel 7’s Sunrise this morning.

The show hooked the same “headline” from the early hours until Krista’s appearance as part of the “Angels” segment around 8:45am.

While not giving too much away in terms of the legal side of her exit from ARN, Krista spoke positively about her year with Kyle and Jackie O.

Angel regulars Shelly Horton and Felicity Harley gave their view points on whether newsreaders should be “opinionated”.  

“I just want to hear an objective view”, said Felicity Harley

Krista defended the position of how an FM Breakfast team works, broadly saying “the newsreader is like the third voice”.

Should newsreaders “Comment” on news content or “just read the news”?
