Jon Faine to end time at ABC Melbourne with live charity show
Virginia Trioli will take over on ABC Melbourne Mornings earlier than expected after Jon Faine revealed he won’t see out the year.
It was believed that Trioli would take on the gig from 2020, but Faine has announced he’ll call time in October.
Faine will bow out with a live charity gig, broadcast Melbourne Town Hall.
“I am finishing on October 11th, and you are all invited to a party,” he announced this morning.

Jon Faine has spent 23 years hosting the Mornings program, and the special show will feature “a reunion of many of the beloved ABC voices”.
“I’ve asked the ABC to make this show a charity fundraiser, so listeners who want to celebrate can express their pleasure by making a sizeable donation to reflect their delight that I’ve finally gone!” he said.
The final program also marks the 95th anniversary of ABC Melbourne.
“Jon’s last program will recognise the tremendous contribution he has made to the ABC, to Melbourne radio and to the Victorian community,” said ABC Radio Melbourne GM Dina Rosendorff
