Jackie O defends Hughesy: “He’s been taken out of context…”

Hughesy’s got himself in hot water over remarks about Lindsay Lohan, but Jackie O is having none of it.

All three are co-panellists on Ten’s new The Masked Singer, with filming underway at Fox Studios in Sydney this week.

On his Hit Network Drive show, Hughesy said the US singer and actress “complained about the fact she had to go downstairs to smoke cigarettes”, leaving the crew and production staff waiting for 15 minutes.

“She’s not happy to follow the rules but she’s not going to break the rules,” declared the comic.

The comments sent tabloid press alight, with suggestions there is backstage tension on set.

But KIIS 106.5 Breakfast co-host Jackie was quick to throw water on the flames.

“He’s been taken out of context and the thing is that he loves Lindsay,” Jackie told listeners on-air Friday during a chat with the show’s host, Osher Gunsberg.

“He would never want to say anything bad about her.

“You know when Hughesy says something very tongue-in-cheek and then you read it in print it looks different… He’s got a certain style of comedy and he certainly doesn’t mean anything bad by it… He hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.”

“And the thing is you couldn’t actually say that Lindsay is unprofessional because she is the exact opposite,” Jackie added. “I’ve been super impressed with her.”
