Jackie O a no-show on KIIS Breakfast after on-air stoush

Reporter

Jackie O Henderson is taking a break from her co-hosting duties on the networked KIIS Breakfast show, after copping an on-air spray from Kyle Sandilands last Friday.

Sharing news of her absence on-air this morning, Sandilands said he’d only been in touch with Henderson via text, not over the phone.

Last week, things got heated when Henderson was about to do some astrological readings around Prince Andrew. Sandilands suggested his co-host’s focus on the trivia meant that “you’re not doing the rest of your job.”

He later went on to say that he wasn’t the only one who’d noticed she’d been distracted. Jackie said “Tell me one spot in the show where I’ve been off with the fairies, not knowing what’s going on? Just one person to back it up and give an example?”

Kyle: “No-one’s going to say anything. Not one of them’s going to say anything. They’re all too terrified.”

Jackie: “Terrified of me?”

Kyle: “Not of you, terrified of getting involved. Not of you.”

Henderson sounded on the verge of tears as she said “I would never say things like that about you. There are so many things that you don’t do, and I would never bring them up, and I would never say what people say.”

I’m not a fan of either of them but kyle can be intensely cruel to people. He needs to be brought down a peg or 2.

This reeks of a desperate attempt to get PR, totally staged.

Hmm … Final week of Survey1, the split that rolls into the start of Survey 2. Possible ratings tactic ?

Sounds real to me.
It is difficult when people you rely on are disengaged. Kyle was being honest about his feelings.

To be fair, I never hear Jackie o complain when Kyle has them “sickies” or a “no show” I think people a bit harsh on Jackie here!

They’ve both been very open in the past saying that even if they’re pulled off air they’ll still get paid – and get paid handsomely – so why are we at all surprised when they don’t want to turn up to work?

I’d love to read those contracts….

I’m backing Jaque on this one. Kyle was being unfair.

Sarah, could you do me a favour please? If this is not a stunt, could you ask ARN management if HR has become involved and, if not, why not?
Kyle claims this “problem” is impacting people across the company, and people are “terrified” to raise it with Jackie. Therefore he obviously thinks it’s a major issue. Plus, if I talked to a fellow worker in the workplace like he did on-air HR would be down on me like a ton of bricks.
So, is it fair dinkum or just another of their stunts?

It wasn’t great content. Yes Kyle was harsh but Jackie in fairness was all over the place.

The bigger question I reckon is what’s happened to the show? Once famous for getting the big names no one else could, it’s crumbled to a show about star signs and birth numbers. It sounds lazy in my opinion, and must keep ARN execs awake at night, given the length of their deal.

Day 3 without Jackie…

I wonder how long ARNs lawyers are spending on the contracts to figure out if a break in the entity of Kyle and Jackie-o breaks the contract to get them out of it.

Almost a best case scenario for ARN – get out of the contract, and no danger of anybody else picking up the Sydney rating powerhouse…

Maybe DC will actually have some work mentoring new shows in Sydney and Melbourne!

real ACRA winning stuff.
No wonder CRA don’t want to award their own industry anymore if this is the Best of the Best in Australia’s biggest market.
yeah – 80 million bucks-worth right there …

Kyle you should no better to air dirty laundry on air!
But then that’s typical of Australian radio. The last time it got involved with a royal story they ended up causing the suicide of a British nurse.
