How did Elly & Taz’s AI co-host shape up?
There’s been a mixed response to Friday’s one-off radio experiment, in which 91.9 SEAFM Drive duo Elly Chaney and Taz Eriksen introduced a brand new AI co-host for the afternoon.
“Hunjo bro. I’m all in. Let’s make this afternoon a blast,” said their robot colleague, mirroring Elly’s unique and familiar greeting.
The experiment was designed to see how Elly & Taz’s AI-generated co-host fared when it came to jumping into conversations, responding to callers and dealing with the unpredictable nature of live radio.
At one stage, the AI co-host delivered a particularly lame joke, which unsurprisingly fell flat. And, despite being encouraged by Taz, she drew the line at doing anything racier.
“I’ll pass on that. Let’s keep it cheeky but family friendly. After all, we’ve got kids listening in.”
To which Elly exclaimed “Don’t school US on radio!”
Judging by the social media response, listeners generally found the experiment entertaining.
“Guys, loved the AI addition,’ said one. ‘Was a shit load of fun (but) maybe keep it Friday only just for the extra giggles.”

I hate this. We’re starting to normalise the use of AI. The next wave of redundancies will be daytime announcers if the big companies are given room…
Can Sea FM’s Breakfast show be replaced with Ai? Absolute garbage.
