Hamish & Andy are back on top of the The Australian Podcast Ranker, snaring the #1 spot for July ahead of ABC News Top Stories, Mamamia Out Loud and the ABC’s phenomenally popular Mushroom Daily Case podcast, which documented the trial and subsequent conviction of Erin Patterson.

Sky News Australia Update rounds out the top five, while The Kyle & Jackie O Show climbed 8 spots to be #7 overall

Grant Tothill, Executive Head LiSTNR Operations and Audience, said “It’s great to see Hamish & Andy returning to the number one position in Triton Top 300 Podcast Ranker – alongside strong performances from Dan Does Footy, Happy Hour with Lucy & Nikki, The Imperfects, and It’s A Lot with Abbie Chatfield, all securing positions inside the Top 20. These results reflect the power of trusted voices and compelling storytelling. The Howie Games also delivered its greatest audience in more than 18 months, reinforcing audience appetite for high-quality, long-form content.”

“With our world-class AdTech and ability to target our ‘known audience’, the LiSTNR sales team is driving podcast and radio instream monetisation through both programmatic and direct revenue channels.

“After recently announcing the launch of LiSTNR Precision+, a major step forward in real-time measurement, LiSTNR is further strengthening its global best-in-class AdTech capabilities. Combined with the LiSTNR Audience Network which includes podcasts, radio in-stream, and music playlists reaching up to 10 million Australian each month, LiSTNR will continue to deliver both scale and effectiveness for advertisers.”

ARN’s iHeart continues attracted more than seven million listeners in July and recording 24.7 million downloads across the month.

Adding to this success was iHeart partner Clubby Sports, which saw steady growth across its slate of shows, fuelled by anticipation ahead of the footy finals.

Dyl & Friends climbed four spots to reach #47, while The Kick it Forward podcast surged 14 places to #85.

Clubby Sports’ Dylan Buckley said: “It’s exciting to see the sports category growing and we’re proud to have five shows that regularly feature in the top 200. Our talent and producers work so hard to create a product that our community loves and it’s nice to see the data back that up when the ranker lands each month.”

Clubby Sports and iHeart are set to carry that energy into summer, with the return of cricket podcast 3 Behind Square.

Corey Layton, ARN’s Head of Digital Audio, said “The strength of iHeart lies in our ability to connect listeners with the content they love, and our partnerships continue to deliver incredible results. In particular, Clubby Sports’ podcasts are performing strongly in the ranker, and we’re seeing significant commercial interest in their unique line-up, creating exciting opportunities for brands to connect with highly engaged audiences.”

The Ranker is released monthly by Commercial Radio & Audio in partnership with Triton Digital.

Lizzie Young, CEO of CRA, said “The Australian Podcast Ranker goes beyond audience numbers to reveal the highly engaged, trusted niche communities shaping consumer decisions. This data gives brands the clarity to invest smarter, connect deeper, and cultivate brand loyalty with the demographics that matter most to their brands.”
