GfK Survey 1, anyone?
UPDATE: Survey 1 results now live here.
The last couple of weeks have felt like like a radio version of MAFS. On steroids.
Somehow, we’ve managed to pack a decade’s worth of industry drama into the first three months of 2026. Who’d have thought the hype surrounding the first metro radio survey of the year could – or would – be eclipsed by a shadow in the shape of Kyle Sandilands?
GfK Radio 360 Survey 1 2026 lands at 9:30am Thursday March 19.
It’s the first survey for Christian O’Connell since the show was networked into Sydney on ARN’s Gold Network.
It will be the first book for Jonesy & Amanda’s new Gold Network Drive show.
Elsewhere, Sydney’s 2DayFM will be hoping for a change in its flagging fortunes, as its Breakfast team of Nath Roye and Emma Chow await their first full survey result as a duo, following the departure of Jimmy Smith.
There’ll also still be plenty of keen media interest in the Melbourne numbers for the now-defunct Kyle & Jackie O Show.
Many questions will be answered by the Survey 1 results.
Will the Kyle and Jackie O dispute with ARN drive KIIS up or down, given that only one week of the spat was captured in this survey?
How will K&J perform in the markets where they are now on DAB in their last survey ever?
Will this be K&J’s last survey ever, or will this sage take another twist in the courts?
Will Christian O’Connell retain Jonesy and Amanda‘s Sydney audience on Gold and how will he go elsewhere?
Will Jonesy and Amanda lift the Drive slot in the new markets the pair are heard in this year?
Will the new Sydney breakfast teams make any impact on the other stations in that market?
Will the instability of the world at the moment help news/talk stations to a ratings lift, or is all the doom and gloom a downer that will mean listeners escape to talk?
How will all the other markets perform?
Will ARN comment on the results for its network? We assume they will have a comment in their press releases but there’s one thing we do know… ARN will not put up a spokesperson this survey to talk to media. Neither the newly appointed Dave Cameron or any other programmer from ARN will speak to media today.
And a shoutout to our reporter Jen Seyderhelm. Jen will do her part of our ratings coverage this morning, but as soon as she is finished she will down tools and rush to the airport to head for Riga to cover RadioDays Europe. Look for her RadioDays reports over the next week.
From cume and share breakdowns to post-survey interviews with network CDs, Radio Today will have the full wash up from 9.30am.
Unsure about Chistian O’Connell rating well in Sydney but l predict Jonsey & Amanda will be No 1 in Melbourne.
Will be interesting if they (Kyle and Jackie O)will gain some % in Melbourne…for sure they going to be #1 in Sydney…. Can’t wait for survey 2 …that will be real The Radio Hunger Games…
My question is, will ARN mention K&J in their post results press releases at all? My bet is no.
