Fred Botica farewells 96FM

Staff Writer

Radio stalwart Fred Botica has used his final moments on air at Perth’s 96FM to thank the station’s managing director, Gary Roberts.

“Gary Roberts, thank you for being an amazing friend and an amazing boss, thank you so much, mate. If it wasn’t for you, none of this would have happened. Brilliant, I’m out of here.”

Botica was joined by his wife, Sam, in the studio as well as co-host Lisa Shaw and replacement Dean ‘Clairsy’ Clairs.

Botica has been in radio for five decades, and first went to air with Shaw in 1997. Together they won over 100 surveys. They reunited on 96FM in 2019.
