Federal MP Dan Tehan co-hosts Colac’s Mixx Breakfast after losing bet

Proving that pollies can be true to their word, Colac’s local Federal Member Dan Tehan found himself in the hot seat today, co-hosting the Mixx Breakfast show, after recently losing a footy bet.

A couple of weeks ago, Dan and brekky host Matt ‘Lippi’ Lipiarski made a friendly wager on-air around their favourite footy teams.

The deal was that if Dan’s AFL team Richmond defeated Sydney, he would take over the Mixx brekky show with full control, and nothing off limits.

If Lippi’s Swans won the day, Dan would front up nice and early and co-host the program with James ‘Jimmy’ Thwaites & Lippi.

Despite a spirited first quarter from the Tigers, the Swans won the day.

Being a good sport about it, Dan graciously accepted defeat, and joined Jimmy and Lippi on air this morning.

“A bet is a bet, and I’m delighted to honor my end of it,” he said.

“I’ve been looking forward to joining the guys on the show this morning, having a bit of banter, and chatting about all things South West which they already do a wonderful job at!”

Some of this morning’s rundown included birthday shout outs to listeners, a recap of Shire Business award winners from last night, a local netball league preview, and Dan himself organising a special guest, Richmond legend Trent Cotchin.

This turned out to be an  unintentional tie-in with the station, as Trent had recently completed Carrie Bickmore’s CB4BC Big 5 Marathon. Mixx 1063 takes the Carrie & Tommy Drive show weekday afternoons from 3 – and it turns out Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer C.E.O Sam McGuane is Colac born and bred!

Jimmy said “It was awesome having Dan in the studio today. He was very much out of his comfort zone but played the role of third host brilliantly. From organising a special guest in Trent Cotchin to dropping a few one liners throughout the show, it might open the door to a future role in the industry!”
