Emma Freedman features on Real Heidi, Real People, Real Stories podcast

Staff Writer

Today I launched season two of “Real Heidi, Real People, Real Stories” the podcast and the very first guest is radio sister Emma Freedman.

The very first series was everyday people who had incredible, crazy, sad, interesting and inspirational stories.

This series is a little different, we get to know the REAL people behind their profiles whether they are on TV, radio or online.

Emma is extremely busy this month with all her spring racing, TV and radio commitments but she managed to squeeze in a chinwag with me.

In the real and honest chat with Em, we spoke about her hiring and firing from nine and how it was the best thing that ever happened to her at the time, “Being sacked at 26 was the best thing to ever happen to me and I learned so much about myself at the time. My mantra in life is everything happens for a reason.”

Em has always kept her relationship low key but since she has been on Triple M Sydney with the boys, she has slowly started to open up about Charlie.

“He works in commercial property and I’m starting to feel more comfortable speaking about him. I understand that is part of my job and people have been really kind about it.”

Emma’s father Lee Freedman (David Lee Freedman) is an Australian thoroughbred racehorse trainer and Hall of Fame inductee and has recently moved to Singapore, she told me, “Dad didn’t realise he was spelling his name differently than his birth certificate until he was in his mid 20’s. So I’m not sure how that worked with his passport.”

Emma’s hot tip for the Melbourne Cup is, “I’m not about the win bets, I’m all about a cheeky place bet. And I reckon a cheeky place bet on Vengeur Masque for Melbourne Cup.”
