Elly Chaney & Luke ‘Becks’ Toohey join 91.9 Sea FM Drive

Former Assistant Editor

91.9 Sea FM has announced its new local Drive show comprising two former SCA employees; Elly & Becks.

Elly Chaney departs after two years on Hit96.9 Shepparton Breakfast, the region’s #1 show, heading to the Sunshine Coast to join Luke ‘Becks’ Toohey.

Chaney was named on Radio Today’s Top New Talent for 2019 and beyond.

Becks meanwhile was SCA’s group content director for VIC/SA, looking after 11 Breakfast shows in the region.

He’s spent 17 years in radio, previously hosting The Benchwarmers with Ant & Becks – the National Drive show on SCA’s Hit Network stations. Ant & Becks also had a stint on ARN’s Sydney and Melbourne stations.

“I love sunshine and I love the coast so accepting this job and joining the SEA FM family was a no brainer!” said Chaney.

“I can’t wait to jump on the air with Becks and prove once and for all that I’m funnier than him.”

“I have three major passions in life, my family, local radio and XXXX Bitter…so I’m stoked to make the surf clubs and 91.9 SEA FM my local,” added Becks.

“An amazing team in the best place on earth…bring it on.”

Becks is also the new 91.9 Sea FM content chief, working closely with EON Broadcasters group CD Rod Brice.

“It’s clear we are lucky to have a great duo joining the Sunny Coast 91.9 SEA FM, Elly & Becks bring a fantastic chemistry and the love of a good laugh and we welcome them to the team,” said Brice.

The new Drive show on 91.9 Sea FM featuring Elly & Becks begins Monday, February 3.

Such a great move from 919 and very promising for radio overall! Local drive shows all the way!

Also Elly and Becks are an EPIC choice!

Oh Elly, you don’t need to get on air with him to prove you’re funnier – a paper bag has better punch lines than that goose. Good luck to you!

Why did Beck’s leave sca for this job? Doesn’t make sense, but wish them all the best as local radio is the winner. Good luck to the team. They should have brought back the Benchwarmers, what those guys did from two different studios in two different states was amazing. Nobody has been able to do that with breakfast shows around the country with sca from different studios. Can’t wait to hear this show.

Good luck Elly. You have taken on a role that would be challenging to many so good on you. Rod did you talk to anyone before putting this together? Being the Talent and management in this situation is a risk and some people are meant to be talent not leaders. Fingers crossed this all works out. Rod is a smart operator so we can only wait and see.

Wonder what’s happened to Rod Brice & Eon? He was looking after 2CH, Mix & Sea. 2CH went to Cherie Romaro, consultants have been called in to manage talent on the coast and now a new content chief?
