Mamamia has announced a new appointment to its head of podcasts role, with former employee Elissa Ratliff returning to the digital media company.

Ratliff is the third person to take on the role in 2020 after Rachel Corbett departed in March, and her replacement Bridget Northeast is no longer with the business.

She started at Mamamia as an intern eight years ago, has held several roles at the womens site, and was most recently head of audio at Pacific Magazines.

Mamamia founder Mia Freeman made the announcement on Instagram, and also thanked Corbett and Northeast for their time with the company.

“Today, she begins her new role as Head Of Podcasts at Mamamia, the largest women’s podcast network in the world with over 70 million downloads of our 28 shows (Mamamia Outloud alone has grown to more than 1m downloads per month),” Freeman said.

“Today is such a proud day for her family, her @mamamiaaus family and for every young woman with a dream to work in media. How lucky we are to have her leading such a capable team that has been led previously by so many extraordinary women including @moniquebowley @_rachelcorbett and @bridgetnortheast.

“Working with women and watching them fly is the best part of working at Mamamia IMO.”

Ratliff posted to her own Instagram as well. “There’s no way to say this without sounding like a wanker but thrilled to be home at Mamamia as the new Head Of Podcasts,” she wrote.

“I have big shoes to fill in @moniquebowley @_rachelcorbett and @bridgetnortheast but I’m pretty excited to give it a crack with our kickass team.

“Thanks @miafreedman and @wainwrightholly for always having my back.”
