Dave Noonan to depart Triple M Hobart

Staff Writer

It’s been a week of upheaval in radio in Tasmania. There was Brian Carlton quitting his Tasmania Talks morning show (see here). Now comes news that Dave Noonan is leaving Triple M Hobart.

Southern Cross Austereo has confirmed Noonan and breakfast show co-host Al Plath are leaving the station with their final show in just a few days.

Noonan has been working the airwaves in Hobart for the past 25 years and says he’s enjoyed every minute of it.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to be in this role for this long. I have loved being part of the Hobart community and we have shared many laughs and tears along the way. I am excited about not getting up at 4.30am every morning!”

SCA Executive General Manager of Tasmania Ally Brady has paid tribute to the man affectionately known as ‘Noons’.

“I would like to thank Dave for his outstanding contribution to not only SCA Hobart, but to the wider Hobart community.”

“Dave’s tireless work with the Give Me Five for Kids charity has seen close to three million dollars raised for the children’s ward at Royal Hobart Hospital.”

Noonan and Plath will farewell Hobart for the final time on Friday, October 18. A new Breakfast show will be announced in due course.

Love this show. So sad to see them go. Loved Al and totally think she brought new life, laughs and ideas to the show and was a great partner for Dave. Big shoes to fill….

Not sure but I thought Aust stereo axed their show, looks like mmm might be putting a different spin after the public opinion following their axing.
