Commercial Radio Code of Practice Review

Commercial Radio Australia has opened consultation for the triennial review of the Commercial Radio Code of Practice.

“The Code undergoes an extensive review process every three years and is an important process in ensuring contemporary commercial radio broadcasting reflects current community standards and expectations”, said Joan Warner.

 

“The commercial radio industry is committed to meeting the requirements of the Code of Practice and providing the highest quality programs in line with the Australian listening public’s needs.”

The Code regulates commercial radio content in accordance with community standards and specific procedures are included for the handling of listener complaints.

The Code is intended to provide clear guidance to radio station staff and listeners on what is required in each of the areas covered by the Code which include taste and decency, accuracy and fairness in news and current affairs, live hosted entertainment programs, procedures for handling complaints and broadcasts of emergency information in times of emergency.

CRA is conducting the review of the Code and invites comments – an information pack and full details on the Code Review process can be found on the CRA website.
