Coming soon: The New Talent To Watch in 2014

Following on from the recent article Great Talent Matters, coming soon on Radio Today I’m going to list the Top New Talent to Watch in 2014.

Before we take a look at the new talent this year, it is worth looking back over the last 12 months to see how last year’s Top New Talent to Watch in 2013 are going.

Generally they are all doing very well, some moving from regional to metro radio, others doing well in their current roles, and some may even appear again on this year’s list.

Ryan Jon Ryan moved from STAR FM in Mildura, is now on Breakfast at HOT FM Queensland, and has to be one of the best social media exponents in radio.

Digby Gillings Digby is doing afternoons at Nova Brisbane, previously working at Star FM on the Central Coast and 2LT Lithgow. Facebook
Nick Gill Former AFL footballer Nick Gill moved up from SEA FM Hobart and headed to metro radio to join Triple M Adelaide’s Hot Breakfast. @nickhgill
Michael Beveridge Michael is on SAFM breakfast and also now national, co-hosting the Today Network Weekend Breakfast show on 50+ stations with Byron Cooke and former FOX breakfast host Jo Stanley.

Sarah Morice Sarah has moved from 2UE Breakfast to Afternoons with Ian 'Dicko' Dickson. @SarahMorice
Cale Porter Cale has moved from nights/mid dawns on the Nova network to Nova Adelaide afternoons.

Pete Curulli Peter left B105 to head home to Perth to work in his family business. More.

Angus O'Loughlin Angus is hosting the Today Network national night show 'The Bump'.

Heidi Anderson Heidi moved from regional WA market Bunbury to NXFM Newcastle, appeared on Big Brother and is now heard on 92.9 Perth Breakfast with Will and Woody. @realheidi
Nick Karkazis

Nick is at Spin 103.8 in Ireland and supplies a UK chart show for KIIS 1065 Sydney each week.

Dani Venn & Tommy Little Tommy was on last years list with Dani Venn and this year started on Nova Melbourne Breakfast with Meshel Laurie in what is probably the best new breakfast lineup of the year.

Shane Lowe Shane is still going well as co-host of Nova Adelaide Breakfast with Dylan Lewis. @ShaneLoweYo
Craig Annis Craig is on STAR FM Central Coast doing Breakfast with Mandy Coolen and continues with his live comedy work. @craigannis

The challenge for all of these “new” talent is to continue to offer up something different and unique and to stand out from the pack. They need to keep striving to be relatable, engaging, true to themselves, and to continue to find their authentic voice, making sure they offer up their real selves on-air and being prepared to expose themselves.

Radio Today's Top New Talent to Watch in 2014 is coming soon.

The list is currently being put together so if you have any suggestions let us know here or leave a comment below.
