Christmas comes early for podcast hosts

Christmas has come early for Brisbane podcast hosts Liam Renton and Vanessa Gibson after their Christmas podcast, Christmas Podding, was named the second best Christmas podcast on FeedSpot. 

The pair said they’re feeling merry after improving one place since last year in the world-wide rankings. 

“We’ve never been so happy to come second,” Gibson said. 

“It’s a nice reward for a lot of hard work through the year.” 

When not talking about Christmas, Vanessa works in sports media, where winning is a daily conversation, so she still has her eye on the prize. 

Even though Christmas is still months away, co-host Liam Renton says people are often shocked when they hear the podcast runs year-round.

“Discovering there was a group of people so passionate about Christmas they were prepared to tune in weekly has been real joy,” he says. 

“We’ve taken our own Christmas passion to the next level this year, putting on our own Christmas events to dissect, review and learn from.”

Recently, the pair held duelling Christmas in July parties, complete with baked turkey and ham, a Christmas Choir, costumes, mulled wine and festive spirit.

As the pair gear up for daily episodes in December, the latest accolade is the icing on the Christmas cake.

“And in case you wanted a definitive answer, the pair agree YES, Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie,” Liam said.
