Christian finally chooses a footy team

New Gold104.3 Breakfast host Christian O’Connell has finally committed to a local AFL team, after more than a month of deliberation.

Before Christian even set foot in the country, he was inundated with advice over who to choose.

This morning, joined by the CEO of the AFL Gillon McLachlan, it was announced that he was officially a Melbourne Demons fan.

Ahead of the announcement, Christian’s sidekick Jack Post tried to sway the decision-making process by giving Christian’s daughters Essendon jerseys.

Christian was less than impressed.

The tactic backfired though, as Christian confessed on the show this morning that the Dons were never in with a chance because they didn’t want to turn Breakfast into Bombers FM.

Finally, after much deliberation, McLachlan announced that the Melbourne Demons “now had the honour of calling [Christian] their fan.”
