Nine Radio appoints Chris Rieger as news director at 4BC

Former Publisher

Brisbane talk station 4BC has named Chris Rieger news director.

Rieger joined the Nine Radio-owned station two months ago to read the news during Breakfast with Neil Breen. His promotion was announced internally on Friday (October 23).

Rieger said on Facebook that he is excited to be leading a great team of people at 4BC.

“I’m happy to share the news I’ve been appointed News Director,” he said.

“I love being back in Brisbane and doing what I love again, but most importantly, I work with some really cool people, some who I’ve known for years from other radio stations and my last stint here at Magic882 (4BH).”

Rieger started his career as a high school student completing work experience at Bay 93.9 Geelong. He’s previously worked for 4VL, 4AM, 4CC, 4LM/, 4MB, The River, 2GO, 4KQ and K rock.

It has been a period of change at 4BC since Nine acquired the station and returned to local programming, including the appointment of Breen and Scott Emerson on Drive.

Rieger starts his new role today and 4BC are now looking for a new journalist to join the team.
