Chad Townsend joins SEN 1170 breakfast, new three-year deal for David King
Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) are finalising their lineups ahead of 2026 and a big summer of cricket, tennis, NFL and golf.
Recently retired NRL star Chad Townsend will be a part of SEN 1170am in 2026, joining Jimmy Smith for Friday morning breakfast. While still playing football he also found time to complete a Radio Fundamentals course with AFTRS to assist with his broadcast career post the game.
SEN’s Sydney breakfast will now be Kick Off with Brandy & Jimmy. Greg ‘Brandy’ Alexander and Jimmy Smith will commence from Tuesday 27 January and air Monday to Thursday. Jimmy will be joined on Fridays by former Cronulla Sharks halfback and 2016 Premiership hero Chad. Respected rugby league commentator Andrew ‘Vossy’ Voss will shift from hosting Breakfast with Brandy to a new morning show airing Monday to Wednesday, plus a Thursday show, Vossy’s Verdict, which will air from 9am to midday. Fridays it’s the popular Morning Glory with Matty Johns.
Then, Arvos with Adam Peacock, followed by The Run Home with Joel & Fletch (with Joel Caine and Bryan Fletcher) and Sportsday (with Mat Rogers and Jarrod Croker) – will keep Sydney sports fans informed and entertained.
The network has also announced that David King has signed a new three-year deal with highly respected AFL analyst locking in Fireball with Kane & Kingy until the end of 2028 as part of SEN Breakfast Mondays and Fridays. Kane Cornes inked a similar deal in October.
Before that though there is a summer of tennis, golf and cricket to enjoy.
SENQ 693am will have all the details in the lead-up to the 2nd Ashes Test at The Gabba, starting Thursday, December 4.
That is the final week on air for 2025 for Breakfast with Coz & Heals, with Corey Parker and Ian Healy. Audiences will enjoy Healy’s expert perspective as anticipation builds for the pink-ball clash. Coz & Heals will be returning to SENQ 693am in 2026, also starting Tuesday, January 27.
For the Gabba test, running from December 4 to 8, the 2nd day-night Test will have cricket coverage from 12pm AEST and play commencing at 2pm AEST each day, with cricket fans keen to see how both sides handle the swing of the pink ball under lights after the Perth test lasted just two days.
SEN Cricket’s commentary team in Brisbane features Gerard Whateley, Bharat Sundaresan, Stuart Broad, Lisa Sthalekar, Damien Fleming, Simon Katich, Adam Collins, Tom Morris and – of course – Ian Healy. Plus, The New Ball will be back on air before each day’s play with analysis and insider stories from the heart of the Ashes.
Then, SEN will cover the 2025 Crown Australian Open Golf from December 4 to 7 at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, featuring superstar Rory McIlroy alongside Aussie favourites Cam Smith, Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, Marc Leishman and Lucas Herbert. Golf fans can expect world-class commentary and updates across SEN platforms.
In January the Summer of tennis fires up with SEN once again broadcasting the Australian Open 2026 at Melbourne Park. SEN will also continue its expanded NFL partnership, broadcasting live games every Monday morning, plus full postseason coverage with expert commentary from Ben Graham and Jordan Kounelis, plus the Super Bowl with Gerard Whateley.
Sam Thompson, Sport’s Entertainment Network’s (SEN) Group Radio Director, said that although 2025 was drawing to a close, programming across the network was far from slowing down:
“From the Ashes and BBL to the Australian Open Golf and NFL – SEN remains the home of sport for fans across Australia.”
Hopefully next year they can be an aggressive advertising campaign for SEN RSN Sen in Shrek and turf in Western Australia to get more listeners in markets that they’re in Ines time will be 26 true and listeners promoting the talent to more people and more people we know it and like it
Still baffles me how this SEN network can pay all these people plus the costs on the technical side plus renting studios etc. etc., yet it’s ratings have been abysmal for years. Which bank or investment firm is lending them this money. Can somebody tell me how it works ?
