Cale Porter whips up a treat for listeners

Last week Adelaide’s Fresh 92.7 Drive host, Cale Porter, got his own Mr Whippy Ice Cream Van to dish out free soft serves all week as the team broadcast live.

The team travelled around Adelaide getting interactive with listeners as they moved from place to place handing out freebies.

Cale has had the dream of hosting his radio show from an ice cream van for a while and it finally came to fruition with hundreds of people coming to get served.

“I’ve wanted to do my radio show from an ice cream van for years, and finally, we made it happen. They say nothing is free in 2021, but we had free soft serve ice creams for everyone,” Cale said.

“Not only did the hundreds of families with kids rolling up surprise me, but amount of hard-working high vis tradies who just wanted their knock off soft serve…”

This comes not long after Cale’s last promotion involving a collaboration with Big Shed Brewing to create his own Apple Cider with his face on the can.

“The excitement on listeners faces when they caught up with the ice cream van was priceless ‘couldn’t believe it, knocked off work and heard you were around the corner’ or “the kids were begging me to drive here after school pick up,” Cale said.

“I’ve done plenty of OB’s and this would have to be one of the most successful crowds throughout the entire week. I love working on these partnerships, on and off the air.”

You can catch Cale for the Drive Home from 4pm-7pm on Adelaide’s Fresh 92.7.
