Big personality. Big heart. Local community rallies behind 2NZ’s Big Phil
As his name suggests, Big Phil is a bloke who’s larger than life. Big personality. Big heart. Loves a dad joke or three.
As the Breakfast announcer at 2NZ Inverell in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, Big Phil – aka Phil Norris – has a special connection with his local community, always ready to help people in need.
Now the tables have turned, and it’s their turn to help Phil.

Just before Christmas – due to diabetes complications – Phil had to have his right leg amputated.
As he continues rehab, Phil’s keen to purchase a mobility scooter to maintain his independence.
Up until his surgery, Phil’s daily routine saw him get up at 3am, grab a coffee at Maccas on the drive to work and chug it down in the radio station car park.

“Now with this amputation, driving may be out of the question for now, so alternate transport will be looked into,” Phil recently posted to social media.
“I’m thinking a mobility scooter and I reckon I can rock it.”
Now being fitted with a prosthetic leg, Phil said “Getting mobile again with new leg is the main objective so I’m good to go.”
Phil – the former brekky host at Mount Isa’s 4LM – hopes to be back on air soon.
He also has a major birthday celebration to look forward to – with 2NZ turning 90 next month.
Get well soon, Big Phil.
