Ben & Liam go head-to-head for boxing glory
Ben & Liam have been hyping up their boxing match all week, and on Thursday we finally heard the ultimate triple j Breakfast fight.
After five years of boxing training, Ben recently appeared in an exhibition fight against a 16-year-old.
Liam taunted his co-host for fighting “a kid who’s not even finished high school yet”, and posted a photo of himself in boxing get-up to Instagram, promising to get in the ring if it got 30K likes.
The listeners spoke and the fight was arranged, with an underdone Liam (covered in fake tattoos) going up against a hardened and match-fit Ben.
So it was: Ben ‘Hammer Time’ Harvey vs Liam ‘The Colonel’ Stapleton.
Even after the fight, Liam wasn’t convinced Ben had won, saying on air “my punches were cleaner”.

Do these two actually like each other ? This fight looked a bit too real for me. Should our ABC be condoning boxing ?
Never thought I would see the day – boxing ! Two breakfast stars actually beating each other other up. I sense there is some reall rivalry between these two guys. Looked real to me.
These two have creative ideas and beautiful execution on and off the air. I’ve watched them quietly build fans over the past couple of years and they are definitely getting noticed. Hope they stick around on triple J for awhile yet.
