Barry Keohane to leave Wave FM

Reporter

Wave FM Content Director, and former Regional Content Director (NSW/VIC/SA) for ARN Barry Keohane will be leaving the station at the end of this month.

Barry is well known in the Australian radio industry, having held senior content positions with Southern Cross Austereo, ARN and the ABC over his career.

He has also worked extensively throughout Asia, including a 3 year role as Head of Content for Astro Broadcaster’s China operations.

Barry is passionate about the next generation of radio and audio content makers, and continues to coach and train students through his role as a lecturer with the Australian Film, Television, and Radio School (AFTRS).

As for what’s next, Barry says “Radio will always be in my blood, so it makes sense to get back into a fulltime radio job.  And that job will be focusing more on coaching and developing talent, and building strong content leaders of the future. But if it’s not radio, then I know a lot of organisations screaming out for people with the skills I can bring to a role.”

“I’m never one to sit still, so I might take a few weeks off and then get back to work. Whatever and wherever that might be”.

All the best to him in the future but Wave need someone in there who can compete with i98, its miles ahead in that market. Maybe they are cutting down the overheads with the SCA buyout and the forthcoming networking they have planned. we will see.
