Stuff You Should Know ends 2020 as Australia’s top podcast

Australian Radio Network (ARN) and its iHeartPodcast Network has ended the year as the top publisher, according to the Australian Podcast Ranker.

It was listed as both the top publisher, as ranked by monthly downloads, and had its Stuff You Should Know podcast back in the top spot.

November’s chart-topper, Casefile True Crime, which is published by Audioboom but has sales representation conducted by iHeart, was down to the second spot.

iHeartPodcast had 329 active titles across the month, with 9,294,955 monthly downloads. Second-placed Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and PodcastOne Australia had 386 titles, with 5,229,060 downloads. Audioboom climbed one spot with 248 podcasts, and 4,219,035 downloads.

There were some new titles in the ranking this month including Something Was Wrong (#68) and Let’s Not Meet: A True Horror Podcast (#98), both from Audioboom, as well as Your Morning Mantra (#74) from Podshape.

Participating publishers in the Australian Ranker include ARN/iHeartMedia, Southern Cross Austereo, News Corp Australia, Audioboom, Stitcher, Wondery, Nova, Nine, SEN / Crocmedia, Schwartz Media, TOFOP Productions, Kinderling Kids Radio, Australian Radio Network, Wavelength Creative, NBC News, West Australian Newspapers, and Fear and Greed. Additionally, as of the August 2020 Australian Podcast Ranker, Nine Radio has been expanded to include podcasts from Nine’s digital and publishing divisions.
