Ash Bradnam departs Nova 106.9 Brisbane breakfast
There may not be multiple Bradnams on Brisbane radio in 2026 with the news that Ash Bradnam is leaving Nova 106.9. Ash has been part of the network’s breakfast lineup for more than two decades, since Nova launched in the city. This morning was his last day. The Ash, Luttsy and Nikki Osborne show was No 1 in this week’s GfK Survey 7.
Ash said:
“I’ve had the time of my life…I’ve loved this job…and I really feel like I’ve had the full brekkie radio experience. You know I’ve been stealing soft drinks from the street team for over a decade now.
I’ve sat in this chair every day for two decades…I’m going to miss working with you, Lutts, I love you. And to the listeners, thank you. I love radio. I’ve loved this job. I’ve absolutely love sharing my mornings with you. So, thanks very much for listening, and thank you for 20 years.”
David “Luttsy” Lutteral, Ash’s co-host over those past two decades, added:
“Quite simply, nobody has had a greater impact on Nova Brisbane in its history. Ash is a true radio man, a legend of his craft and a brilliant talent. This landscape will feel completely foreign without him. I am certain he will pursue new projects, and I can’t wait to see his next evolution.”
Ash’s time as part of the Nova Brisbane story, including co-hosting the station’s breakfast show when it launched in 2005 saw him part of all the line-ups including Meshel, Ash, Kip & Luttsy (2005-2009), Meshel, Ash & Tim (2009), Ash, Kip & Luttsy (2012-2016), Ash, Kip & Luttsy with Susie O’Neill (2017-2021) and Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill (2022-2025). The station celebrated its 20th anniversary with a gathering of teams members past and present earlier this year.
Nova Network’s Group Programming Director, Brendan Taylor said:
“For two decades, Ash has been an integral part of the Nova Brisbane broadcasting family. Throughout his time on air, he’s built a genuine and lasting bond with listeners and has been instrumental in driving excellent results for the Breakfast show. I’d like to thank Ash for his exceptional contribution and unwavering commitment over the years.”
NOVA Entertainment’s CEO, Peter Charlton, added:
“Ash has built a unique connection with our audience over many years. He’s played a pivotal role in shaping the success of Nova 106.9 and I’d like to acknowledge Ash’s outstanding contribution to the station, the Nova Network and to NOVA Entertainment as a whole.”
Nova 106.9’s new breakfast show lineup will be announced in due course with the plot thickening in Brisbane. Ash, in a now deleted Instagram post, said it was not his decision or wish to depart.
Today was also Robin, Kip (a previous co-host with Ash) and Corey Oates‘ last day at KIIS 97.3. They are to be replaced by Craig ‘Lowie’ Low, who has gone to ground since the announcement was made at ARN’s Upfronts last month. There is still two weeks of survey to go.
There is also potentially now a place for Nick ‘Ducko’ Allen-Ducat who hinted he was heading back to QLD on departing the Hit Network’s Jess and Ducko breakfast program. He could slot in now at Nova.
Nine News weather presenter Luke Bradham, who just happens to be Ash’s identical twin, is currently hosting 4BC breakfast after Peter Fegan’s departure. Bradnam, Luke that is, hasn’t a place in their live and local 2026 lineup, yet, but with Peter Psaltis also announced to be leaving, there still could be both Bradnams on Brisbane radio next year, just in very different places.
Luke had the following to say about his brother’s Nova exit:
Always entertaining to watch suits and their KPI’s destroy high performing teams.
101 survey wins over 20 years and they boot him out.
Old dogs like me remember Jerry Krause breaking up the Chicago Bulls in ’98, claiming MJ, Pippen & Rodman were getting old.
This decision may not be quite that dumb, but it’s in the territory.
Ash is a ‘game changer’ and has appeared on that podcast years ago which remains compelling listening. His on-air stories are real. Real!
Moreover, along with his highly qualified partner… he has been at the forefront of addressing addictions which confront many in all professions… his series was probably the most genuine and confronting series ever recorded in the last decade. Unpaid.
Maz Compton & Danny Lakey have more recently also been brutally honest with their lived experienced in this arena. All these individuals are absolutely phenomenal talents. Especially in the land of tall poppies.
Ash was widely adored both here in Brisbane & the Gold Coast… accessible to his audience in Brisbane CBD pubs for twenty odd years with minimal pretence… not always can you say that in this profession… I agree with ‘Thankfully Not A Nova Shareholder’ wholeheartedly. Mind blown by this. Even Marto at the slightly lower rated breakfast (Triple M Brisbane) clearly has respect for his long standing rival. As he should.

Plus not 1 #1 last year, the show was going downhill until Nikki came in
101 #1 in 20 years is epic,
They’ve been the second best show for the last 5 years and now MMM is gaining on the slowing beast too
Rumour is they’re building a new show with Luttsy, Nick Allen-Ducet and one, maybe two other co-hosts
