Board changes at APN & Fairfax
There has been significant board level changes at both APN News & Media, and Fairfax Media today.
Sir John Anderson has been appointed to the Board of APN News & Media; the parent company of ARN and NZME as an independent non-executive director.
Current Board member Vincent Crowley, who represents Ireland’s Independent News & Media (INM), would step down at the APN Annual General Meeting in May, following INM’s exit from their shareholding in the company.
Anderson has extensive commercial and Board experience, having held senior roles in the New Zealand banking and finance industry, including previously being CEO of ANZ.
APN News & Media chairman, Peter Cosgrove, said:
“The decision by Sir John Anderson to join the Board is a strong endorsement of what has been achieved over the past two years in the turnaround of APN, and also the future direction of the Company.”
“The exit of INM marked an historic moment for APN and we all thank Vincent for eight years of dedicated service as a director and a valued contribution to the Company on many levels. Vincent’s longevity with APN goes back to 1996 and his experience has been pivotal in helping position APN on its current growth path.”
Meantime, at Fairfax Media, long-time media executive Nick Falloon has joined the board as non-Executive Director.
Falloon has served as CFO, and CEO, of Publishing & Broadcasting limited overseeing ACP Magazines, Nine Network and Crown Casino, more recently he was Executive Chairman of Network Ten.
In August the current Chairman of Fairfax Roger Corbett will stand down, and Nick Falloon will move into the role as Chairman of the Fairfax Board.
