APN appoint new CEO

Staff Writer

APN News & Media Limited, the parent company of ARN in Australia and TRN in New Zealand, have announced Michael Miller as their new CEO.

This follows the dramatic events back in February which saw former CEO Brett Chenoweth as well as 4 directors leave the company (see more here).

Miller is currently the Regional Director for News Limited in NSW and has been in senior executive roles at News Limited since 1997 and a director of the company since 2004. He has a vast history in newspapers as well as working as a director of Sky Network TV for 10 years in NZ.

Chairman of APN Mr Peter Cosgrove said:

“Michael is well placed to lead APN as his broad media experience in senior hands – on operational roles is precisely what the company needs."

“We are currently focused on re-engineering our publishing operations in both Australia and New Zealand, expanding our digital business to interact more closely with the publishing operations, as well as creating new products and Michael is the right person to lead this process.”

Miller said that he was proud to accept the role as CEO of APN:

“I have a lot of confidence in the well established brands that are part of the APN portfolio. A lot of progress has been made in recent years across the radio and outdoor businesses."

“Whilst there are undoubted challenges ahead for media businesses, the opportunity to align these strong brands with APN’s digital assets, and develop new integrated opportunities was too good to pass up.”

Miller will start mid June.
