Andy Fithall: From audio engineer to award-winning social entrepreneur
I recently had the pleasure of meeting one of the winners from the 2024 Radio Today Podcast Awards, and the honour of presenting them with their very snazzy looking trophy.
I also got a tour of the amazing studio Andy Fithall lovingly built from scratch.
Andy’s The Good People podcast amplifies the stories of the good people in our community.
It was named Best Interview Podcast in the Indie category at this year’s awards.

In a world where it can feel like negativity dominates the media, Andy’s podcast gets us away for a while for some good conversations with good people who just happen to have some amazing stories to tell.
Andy is a Melbourne-based audio engineer by trade, but today, he’s a self-described a social entrepreneur.
And, as Radio Today reported in August, it all came about quite by accident.
The podcast was developed after Andy was twice made redundant at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

Feeling pretty down about his own situation whilst also realising there would be many others in the same boat as him, he decided to do something community focused, creating a good news show with his two primary school aged sons.
Andy has spent these last 4 years applying his skills to creating media which focuses on lifting the community, and bringing hope and joy.
For Andy, winning a Radio Today Podcast Award means much more than just bragging rights.
“It’s great for creatives/content producers to get recognition for the many (many, many) hours of work that go into bringing these projects to life!” he says.
