Matty Johns’ brother Andrew joins 1170 SEN’s Morning Glory
Matty Johns made his radio comeback today on Sydney’s New Home of Sport 1170 SEN, alongside his brother Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns from Nine’s NRL team.
The sports station launched yesterday, alongside a new advertising blitz to promote the station.
Joey will join his brother “regularly” on Morning Glory, which airs Friday’s from 9am to midday.
“Expect plenty of banter and ‘biffo’ when Matty and I get together on Friday mornings,” Joey said.
“I’m looking forward to talking all things footy ahead of the weekend in sport – it’ll be great to join forces with Matty and the rest of the team – I’m sure there will be lots of opinion, debate and plenty of laughs.”
Today’s show was firmly focussed on the two blockbuster Telstra NRL Grand Finals on Sunday.
SEN chief executive officer, Craig Hutchison, said the combination of the Johns’ brothers on-air together will make for irresistible listening in Sydney.
“Listeners are in for something really special when we reunite rugby league’s most famous brothers on air,” Hutchison said.
“They are both brilliant and astute stewards of the game – and together share a rare chemistry that will make for magic listening.”
Hutchison thanked Fox League for their support of Johns’ return to the airwaves and Nine for making it possible for Joey to join his brother on the show.
Last week, the broadcaster launched a campaign to promote hype around the new station.
It was community radio at its finest
Wow. Hearing this makes me realise he may have been propped up by MG and Emma over at Triple M. No good. Hope for SEN it gets better.
As a Maitland boy working in remote WA a podcast with Matty and Joey would be awesome.
Will SEN be podcasting?
