Amazing radio journey: K rock’s Tim & Jess celebrate 2,000 shows together

It’s the sort of radio milestone not many teams ever get the opportunity to tick off their list.
Today, Tim Bolch and Jessica Pantou – hosts of the Tim & Jess Drive show on Geelong’s K rock 95.5 – celebrate 2,000 shows together.
The show began back in 2016 when Tim was chosen to be Jess’ new co-host in Mount Gambier on 96.1 Star FM’s Breakfast show.
A year and a half later, they moved as a team to host brekky across Central Queensland, then racked up even more kilometres around the country, moving to Albury-Wodonga on the Victorian-New South Wales border.
Most recently, they’ve been on K rock Drive, where they’ve clocked up 500-odd shows.
Jess says she and Tim started keeping track of the show numbers just for fun.
“I don’t think either of us anticipated it would get to nine years later and we’d still be counting together!” she laughs. “But we’ve had a lot of great shows!”
Along the way, the team have delivered some unforgettable broadcasts, from breakfast aboard a yacht on the Great Barrier Reef to shenanigans in the snow at Falls Creek.
One of their standout moments came in 2022, when Tim and Jess held a 27-hour radio marathon to raise money for charity, which, with the help of their listeners, raised over $16,000.
Tim says “We are incredibly aware of how lucky we are that we’ve been able to do this together for so long and we are so proud of this achievement.”
“It’s even more lucky we still love coming to work and hanging out together every afternoon after all these years!”
Geelong Broadcasters Acting Group Content Director Tom Lewis says “Tim and Jess have amazing chemistry that translates on air and off. It’s the kind of thing you only see in teams with staying power and a commitment to executing high quality, creative content. They did not pay me to say this.”
With a loyal fan base and an enduring partnership, Tim and Jess show no signs of slowing down.
Here’s to the next 2,000 shows.
