Absolutely flying
A ratings rise in any radio show is cause for celebration, but to go up 4-and-a-half share points in one book is worthy of your best champagne.
That is indeed what GfK Survey 1 of 2025 served up for 3AW Afternoons host Tony Moclair, who took on the shift in late 2023.
It’s rarified air and the former Overnights host – a self-confessed aviation devotee – is keeping his feet on the ground despite being delivered the good news whilst working at the Avalon Airshow.

With a share of 13.6 and touted as being as Melbourne as a hook turn, Moclair’s show is outright #1 in Afternoons, and more than 10 points clear of his nearest talk competitor.
It’s been a blinder of a book for the Melbourne talk station, which is celebrating its best Survey 1 result in more than 15 years.

Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft continue their reign over Melbourne breakfast radio, commanding a 20.6% share, with significant gains also for Mornings host Tom Elliott (pictured above) and Jacqui Felgate in Drive.
Denis Walter leads Melbourne’s evening radio listening by the length of the Flemington straight, while Darren James’ Weekend Breakfast continues to dominate the airwaves on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
3AW Station Manager Stephen Beers says the results are a testament to the hard work of the entire 3AW team.
“We’re incredibly proud to see our live, local programming resonating so strongly with Melbourne listeners across all dayparts and platforms. To achieve our best Survey 1 in over 15 years is a fantastic result.”
