ABC Radio Brisbane relocates to temporary studio for uninterrupted cyclone coverage

Reporter

ABC Radio teams in Brisbane have relocated to a temporary studio in a hotel conference room, to broadcast emergency information with no disruptions as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches.

As he gave a tour of the temporary set-up, Breakfast presenter Craig Zonca explained that the ABC’s usual South Bank headquarters are located in an area that’s susceptible to flooding.

As a result, ABC Radio Brisbane will host its cyclone coverage from the new location over the coming days.

Zonca will be live on air every morning with Loretta Ryan.

Listen on 612AM or via the ABC listen app.

ABC Emergency continues to broadcast regular warnings and information, including a map here.

At the time of publication, Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s centre was expected to cross the coast early tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

Its impact is already being felt across south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales, where tens of thousands of people have been left without power, and thousands more have been ordered to evacuate.
