Laney. Lano. Lane Dog.

Whichever nickname you knew him as, one thing’s for sure – SCA will never be quite the same without Chris Lane in the building.

After nearly 24 years with the company, Lane’s SCA era has come to an end.

As industry uncertainty and redundancies continue to bite, Lane – SCA’s Head of Sport and Partnerships – has confirmed his departure.

Anyone who has ever worked with Triple M Melbourne Content Director Jay Mueller will be familiar with his oft-used catchphrase “Thanks for doing your job.”

And what a legacy Laney leaves.

Arriving at Austereo – as the company was then known – in 2002, Lane started out as the company’s National Sponsorship Director, going on to become Partnership Integration Director for The Studio at SCA, then SCA’s full-time Head of Sport and Partnerships.

One of his most cherished memories was being on the committee last year for SCA Embrace, the company’s flagship corporate social responsibility program.

Lane was also a huge supporter of Triple M’s No Talk Day, raising awareness around men’s mental health.

Of his two-plus decades at SCA, Lane said on LinkedIn:

“It’s been more than I ever could have imagined, a period of immense professional growth across a variety of roles, and even more importantly, personal growth that has shaped who I am today.”

“I’m genuinely grateful for everything SCA has given me.”

“Thank you to everyone who supported, collaborated, partnered, and shared the wild, wonderful ride that is audio.”

Wishing SCA continued success, Lane says he leaves with enormous pride in the contribution he has made.

He now looks forward to a new chapter in the partnership space.

SCA Melbourne General Manager Trevor Cook summed up the thoughts of many of Lane’s SCA past and current colleagues (myself included), saying “You’re a class act who carried yourself with integrity (and a large dose of wit) every step of the way. A true gentleman and my friend.”

“I sense your next era being the best one yet.”

The best of the best. Anyone who secures Laney’s services is hugely lucky!

An absolute legend.
I am going to miss his mildly disapproving looks my way most of all.

Had the pleasure of sitting next to the LaneDog for a few years. Some of my working life’s best years, working with the best of the best, lots of laughs. He gave sage advice on how to handle the Penski files. A true gentleman, good luck Lano.
