7.30 report backs community radio

Staff Writer

The Community Radio campaign to send a message to Senator Stephen Conroy has stepped up a notch overnight in Victoria, with the ABC's 7.30 program featuring a story on the issue of funding for digital services.

Featuring interviews with Jarrod Graetz of Light FM, Adrian Basso of PBS and Tahlia Azaria of Syn (pictured), the segment outlined the stations concerns over the "$1.4m black hole".

Light FM's Jarrod Graetz said on the program;

"These services aren't being covered by anyone else in the mainstream markets and that's why you've got this diversity that's going to be lost in the digital spectrum if we can't restore the funding levels".

A spokesman for Senator Conroy said that there had been no cut in funding to community radio.
