2UE’s Last News Bulletin and the Merge

Today marks one of the first changes under the newly merged Fairfax and Macquarie Radio networks.

At 6pm the final News bulletin from the current 2UE news studios will broadcast. An hour later, 2UE will take its news from the company’s Pyrmont studios.

The new enlarged newsroom see’s the combining of both the 2UE and 2GB journalists. For 2UE it will also see the delivery of a more Sydney centric service for overnights and weekends. The station had been taking 3AW’s network news for the last year or more.

Still, at this time there are limited ‘confirmed’ facts, and plenty of speculation about potential staff cuts for the newly merged group including potential newsroom staff losses. We will let you know of concrete information as it becomes available.
