2TM’s Dan Saunders takes the plunge to support mental health

2TM Tamworth Afternoons announcer Dan Saunders was one of seven local personalities who braved the chilly morning weather last Friday to raise funds for Billabong Clubhouse.

The proceeds will go towards the operation of the Billabong Clubhouse Soup Kitchen, an organisation which supports those suffering from mental health illness in the Tamworth and New England region.

Dan raised $1050 in six weeks. As part of his efforts, he took an invigorating two minute plunge in an ice bath.

Amelia Juniper-Grey – his colleague from sister station 92.9FM – snapped photos of the event, which raised just over $5000 in total, and was live streamed on the 2TM Facebook page.

Dan’s contribution will help ensure the soup kitchen continues to operate every Friday from midday until 2pm, for the benefit of the entire Tamworth community.

A proud Novocastrian, Dan moved from Newcastle to take up the Afternoon 1pm-5pm role in October 2023.

Since then, he has become engaged in many local community activities to raise awareness for numerous not for profit organisations.
