Santo, Sam and Ed’s Total Football podcast will cover the 2018 world cup in Russia, as was revealed at ABC multi-platform comedy launch at the Melbourne International Comedy festival.

Presented by radio and TV comedy veteran Santo Cilauro, Nova 100’s Sam Pang and 2DayFM’s Ed Kavalee, the podcast, which runs on a weekly basis, will ramp up again for the 2018 Football World Cup.

As with previous world cups, Santo, Sam and Ed’s Total Football will be filmed during the competition, with episodes then available on iview and in podcast form.

Also announced as part of the launch was a new podcast by Alice Fraser, Cal Wilson and Sami Shah called Troll Play, which will see the tiro debating online trolling.

Nazeem Hussain‘s travel podcast Burn Your Passport also returns for its third season.

“The ABC has a long history of investing in world class Australian comedy for our audiences,” said ABC director entertainment & specialist David Anderson.

“Our audiences’ behaviours continue to change, and as content makers our job is to deliver them experiences when and where they want them.

“The ABC COMEDY launch was a great opportunity for the ABC to reinvent the way we traditionally think about our ABC audiences.”

“It’s an exciting time for the ABC as we continue to lead the way with world class comedy programming,” added ABC head of comedy Rick Kalowski.

“From new series of ABC favourites to kick-starting the careers of up-and-coming talent, our commitment to comedy in all its forms is stronger than ever.”
