Zero tolerance: Dan & Candice ban bullies on Chilli FM’s Facebook

Staff Writer

It’s an issue that exists in the schoolyard, the workplace, and even on the air.

Chilli FM’s breakfast hosts Dan & Candice are putting their foot down on cyber bullying, enforcing a “zero tolerance” ban on all bullies and trolls on the Chilli Facebook page.

According to Candice, the pair “copped a lot of online abuse, criticism and bullying” on social media last week from “a number” of disgruntled Launceston locals.

“From now on, you and I are taking a zero tolerance to any kind of nasty comments on the Chilli Facebook page,” Candice explained to listeners on-air.

“If you want to leave something which is hurtful, if you want to say that you think that we should die or that something that you’ve watched is the worst thing you’ve ever seen, you are going to be permanently blocked from the Chilli Facebook page.”

“Nobody needs to see that kind of rubbish.”

The pair were quick to point anyone experiencing bullying to appropriate services such as Beyond Blue and Lifeline.

“Reach out and have the conversation if it does affect you,” Dan added.

Good on these two. Too often we are told to ignore comments which are wrong on all sorts of level. Why ignore, call them out on it and they never have a thing to back themselves up with. x
